Clear counsel on technology, risk and growth.

Independent advice for boards that need to govern technology with confidence, and for growth companies that need to commercialise it.

The gap we work in

Most boards inherit technology risk without the means to interrogate it. Most founders have a working technology and no clear path to a customer, a partner or a funder.

Ellery Advisory provides independent technology counsel to boards and growth companies. The practice is led by a serving Chief Technology Officer with a background in enterprise transformation and cybersecurity governance — someone who is doing the job now, in companies at the same stage as yours.

Senior, independent, and accountable for a defined outcome rather than a timesheet.

How we work

Defined outcomes

Every engagement starts with a written scope and ends with a deliverable the board or founder can act on. Fixed-price where the work allows it, so the incentive is to finish, not to extend.

Board-level language

Technology and security are explained as governance matters: what the directors are accountable for, what the exposure is, and what a proportionate response looks like.

Practitioner, not observer

Advice comes from someone currently carrying the responsibility. No junior teams, no hand-offs, and no recommendations the adviser wouldn't sign off on in their own company.

The question a board should be able to answer is not "are we secure?" but "what are we accountable for, what is our exposure, and is our response proportionate?" Most can't. That is a governance gap, not a technology gap. Sean Jacobs, Principal

He has led technology and risk for multiple companies from pre-commercial through to market, and advises boards on the decisions where technology becomes a governance matter.
